On 29th of June 2016 in Prague the openning ceremony of World Games for youth with disabilities(IWAS U23 („IWAS U23 World Games Prague 2016") has taken place under the patronage of the Emil foundation. Athletes from 30 countries was competing for the last places on the Paralympic Games 2016 in Rio in different disciplines.

After the welcome word and press conference of Mayor of Prague the presentation of some wheelchair sports, exhibition on the playing field and an opportunity to try our sports for spectators and tourists have taken place on Staroměstské square. In this connection we asked the director of the Emil foundation Jana Procházková to draw the Prague Wheel Open tournament. She was excited about it and the results of the draw can be seen here:



IWAS is a British organization with the name International Wheelchair & Amputee Sports Federation which was found in  2004 after the merging with International Stoke Mandeville federation of wheelchair athletes and International sports organization for persons with disabilities. IWAS World Games of youth with a handicap and IWAS World Games make it possible for athletes of all levels form 14 years old to the Masters category (35+) to compete on the international level.

About organizers of IWAS U23 World Games Prague 2016

Emil foundation  is a charity organization which helps children with disabilities and young people under 30 to do sports mostly by financial support. Till 2003 it was the project Emil of Czech Paralympics team. In 2009 the project has oficcially became the Emil Foundation. Up to now Emil foundation has supported more than 8 000 athletes and sport clubs.  Its basic mission is to be a symbol of a useful support for young athletes with disabilities, to help them to overcome their own barriers, to find new friends and a live motivation.
